NON-LINEAR MOVEMENT METHOD®
A self-guided somatic movement approach that supports emotional processing, tension release, and deeper presence.
Unwind and Reconnect: The Non-Linear Movement Method® for Emotional Ease and Embodied Presence
What is the Non-Linear Movement Method®?
The Non-Linear Movement Method® is a gentle, intuitive somatic practice that uses fluid, self-guided movement to help you reconnect with your body and unwind emotional and physical tension. Developed by Michaela Boehm, this method invites you to move without choreography, without goals, and without needing to “do it right.”
By moving slowly and organically, your body has space to release accumulated stress, process emotional overwhelm, and return to a more grounded, present state. NLMM supports awareness, connection, and regulation through movement rather than analysis.
What the Non-Linear Movement Method® Helps With:
NLMM is supportive for a wide range of experiences, particularly those where talking or thinking your way through something has reached its limit. It can help with:
Emotional overwhelm or pressure
Stress and burnout
Difficulty feeling connected to your body
Overthinking and mental fatigue
Feeling numb, tense, or shut down
Emotional processing
Softening “holding” without diving into story
Reconnecting with sensation, intuition, and presence
Finding grounding during times of change or uncertainty
This practice helps you reconnect with yourself through movement instead of cognitive effort.
What to Expect in a Non-Linear Movement Method® Session:
NLMM is offered as a group practice session, conducted online. Each session begins with a brief introduction, invitations for presence, and guidance on how to approach the movement. You will then be led through a series of soundscapes and cues that invite you to move from the inside out, following what naturally arises in your body.
There is no choreography, no right or wrong, and no expectation to perform. You are free to move slowly, rest, shift shapes, or explore whatever feels supportive. Many people find the experience grounding, emotionally relieving, and deeply calming.
The session closes with quiet integration and optional journaling prompts to help anchor your experience.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
The Non-Linear Movement Method® is a gentle, intuitive somatic practice that uses unstructured, fluid movement to help you reconnect with your body and release emotional and physical tension. There are no steps or choreography. You simply follow what arises in your body moment to moment. This approach helps soften overwhelm, reduce mental noise, and create a more grounded sense of presence.
-
No experience is needed at all. NLMM is suitable for every body and every fitness level. The practice is fully guided, and you move at your own pace without any pressure to perform, look a certain way, or “do it right.” It’s designed to be accessible to complete beginners as well as those familiar with somatic work.
-
Everyone’s experience is unique. You may notice softening, emotional release, warmth, tingling, or simply a sense of settling inside. Some people feel more spacious or present, while others experience deep calm or clarity. Because the movement is self-led, your body will guide you toward whatever feels supportive. There is no right or wrong experience.
-
Yes. NLMM is often particularly supportive in these situations. The slow, intuitive movement helps regulate emotional load and reconnect you with your internal cues without needing to talk or analyse. You can rest at any time, move gently, and adapt the practice to exactly what feels manageable.
-
Unlike yoga or dance, NLMM has no poses, choreography, or performance. It’s not about stretching, improving fitness, or following instructions. Instead, it focuses on sensing, feeling, and responding from the inside out. The practice emphasises emotional processing, grounding, and embodied presence rather than physical technique or structure.
-
Very little. Wear comfortable clothing, have water nearby, and set up a space where you can move freely, even a small area works well. A yoga mat, blanket, pillow or soft flooring is helpful (especially under your knees), but not required. Headphones can enhance the sound experience if you prefer. Most importantly, come with openness and curiosity.
-
After NLMM, you may feel calm, spacious, or reflective. Some people notice ongoing shifts for hours or days. Taking a short walk, journaling, resting, or drinking water can support integration. You’ll also receive optional journalling prompts that help you capture insights and stay connected to what emerged during the practice.
